$1 Smartphone Tripod Mount

I needed to record a video of me playing my song Creation, but needed to do it from above.   And wanted it to be steady.   Gina researched different smartphone adapters to mount my phone on her tripod.   This is the video we found:

So I made one:

We already had a few butterfly clamps but I did buy the wing nut for $0.30 at Ace Hardware.

I also made a modification to the loopy thing that goes over the screw.  I squished it using vice grips so that it wouldn’t slip over the butterfly screw as I tighten it down.

I’m stoked – it works so well!
